Okay im 15 and I want to know what should i purchase? My friend and I want to get a head start in computer animation and Lightwave 3D looks like the right program for us. Could you please tell us what the best program to purchase and the price. We plan to go to the same college and start our own gaming development company. We are very determined to make an impact on the gaming industry and already have a few aces up our sleeves. This isnt just some spur of the moment thing either we have thought hard and long about this and we are sure we are right in our decision. Thank you all in advance for your help.

I wonder if you could get some good input from a guy named Scott Blinn who posts here. As I recall, he is into Lightwave&Gaming and is also located in San Diego. Good luck to you guys. Sounds like you're getting a great headstart.

Since you are still a minor and in school you should be eligible for the education version, the catch is you can not do anything commercially with the education version. Once you are at a point to do things commercially, then you can upgrade. Doing it this way should save you some money.
While you are at it, check out Microsofts web site, you will find a beta version of their programming package that is available for free. Or for the time being anyways, as once the package goes gold, it will be for sale.
This will give you a chance to learn the programming side as well.
Good luck,
