Hi all, I'm interested to know whats the highest bitrate people use to encode a dvd. From a RTV In tmpEnc I always go 7999, as I think I read somewhere that if you go over that it makes it difficult for some set top players to read them. Just wondering what you all use.

Good morning. For a DVD containing an hour or less, I do go for 8000 CBR. Also, I use DOLBY audio as this requires less bit-rate than the other audio (PCM or mpeg). You could write a book about all the other parameters that produce a good DVD, including the media that is palatable to most stand alone players. Is Dolby part of the PAL standard?
