Hi,
Iím working on a project where I desperately need this feature, anybody got any good workarounds, please help !

The problem is I donít get the fonts from the client, so I need to work with a displacement map, bump maps are not good enough, you understand if you see the attached images.

It is pretty similar to the credit card example

The Image I get...

That's the best result I get when I work with a bumpmap, but that's not enough 3d !!!

Hi Robinson,

will you final image be as frontal as this one? If your viewing angle doesn't change much from this, no amount of mesh subdivision will help you - if all you have as a source is that image.

Have you tried finding a similar font? Typing out that stuff well be **** though... ouch.

The best of luck to you!

Cheers from Stuttgart,
Mike

P.S. Halte die Ohren steif, aber selbst 9 wŁrde bei der Blickrichtung nicht helfen...

Have you tried doubling up the layers for the map in Photoshop, setting the top layer to multiply and blurring the bottom layer slightly? This would soften the roll off on the bump map while keeping the letters sharp.
