This is a bit off topic for LW (although it pulls back in)....

Has anyone seen/played with/read the NVIDIA "GPU Secrets" series - there are two I believe (and I think I have the names right) that talk about a lot of the math an optimizations that can be done for various graphics applications (the section I was reading was on scaling a flat image to appear correctly on a curved surface via a camera from an arbitrary angle)?

I'm getting some more time on my hands in the next couple of weeks, and I've been thinking about programming some plug ins, and while I have some background in modeling 3D space (navigation, mostly), I'm looking to get "deep" in to CGI.

Comments? Suggestions?

I have the latest Nvidia GPU Gems book, some stuff I understand but not the math yet [hopefully soon, maybe the 5th time thru Calculus will turn the light bulb on for me. :) ]

That book they show a cool and fast way to do grass.
