I was concerned that supporting nGons will change SubPatch.
where it Quads the Tri's

Yes, I would assume that the dev team is only adding to the tool set and not removing any functionality. From what I understand they are just making it possible so now u will be able to Subpatch polys that have more than 3 or 4 sides. Should be nothing to worry about. 3 sided patches come in handy some times.

Most likely it won't change much. It will benefit from the new algorithm a little, but not that much. It's a simple mathematical problem - you don't have much options for calculating tangency. While you can tweak n-gons and quads to look smooth based on the underlying tesselation routines, tris don't leave much romm for that. They are too exactly defined already in a mathematical sense (yeah, in math 3 is holy, guess why it's called Trigonometry ;o) ). Don't worry, triangles on SDS look crap even in Maya.
