View Full Version : Collision in lightwave

Ok itís a simple task but I am struggling with it. All I am trying to do is have control of a object and move it to point A to point B and have LightWave do collision detection. Sure I can add wind and gravity and roll it down a hill just fine. I am just trying to have control over the ball and move it with LightWave worrying about not having the ball go through the ground. This would be very helpful in animating objects and not having to add a crap load of key frames. Help please :help:

Can't remember all the details, but maybe I can head you in the right direction: Select your "ground" in Layout, click Item Properties tab, look for "Add Custom Object" button. (perhaps under Geometry...I don't know which version you're using...) Select FX Collision plug-in; that should make your plane a collision object. Adjust the settings for bounce, etc., by double clicking on the FX Collision plug-in listing to get its menu.

I have done all that I give the object hard body dynamics and click on fixed so I have some sort of control over the object. But it don't work right if will make crazy movements when on the collision object and if I make the rotation fixed it has no collision at all it will simply move right through the object. :(
