View Full Version : Screamernet II Memory Management

I've set screamernet II up so that it can use both processors on my Mac and act as a standalone batch rendering tool. Unfortunately it likes to kernel panic on almost every job I do. I'm trying to track down the cause, but I'm assuming there are memory management issues.

So my questions are:

1. If I'm running two copies of LWSN (to address 2 procs) do I need to lower the memory allocation for camera accordingly to prevent crashes.

In normal layout "test rendering" mode I've got camera assigned 512MB out of 1GB of system memory. That works fine for test renders and long renders that don't use screamernet.

Should I assume that with 2 LWSN nodes running the renderer is trying to access 2x 512MB of RAM?

2. Should the Hub be on or off during screamernet renders?

3, Any other crash producers I should know about? I don't run any other apps while I'm screamernet rendering. The machine is just sitting by itself overnight. (Maybe it's sneakiing out for pizza or something:)
