While it looks like there is a new codec in 4.5 that is to be released anyday now....
Does anyone know what that is about? Is it compressed?
Hopefully 4.5 will continue to service the RTV codec???

Will it be installed on top of 4 or will it be a completely new install??

No change in the primary uncompressed RTV format. The new codec is simply an additional DV codec that Newtek has used in the Tricaster. It's supposed to be an improvement over the MS DV codec and should work more efficienctly with the VT software while having better color sampling at the same time. We'll see when we get to play with it.

Note that the new codec isn't actually a "DV" codec.

It is Newtek's own proprietary codec, it doesn't encode nor decode DV.

Does the audio stay in sync 100% of the time?

Yes, audio is sprocketed with the video.

Is that a Finley sprocket? If so can I still use my Langstrom 7" gangley wrench to tweak it? Wait a minute, that's socket not sprocket....never mind :p
