Is there a way to turn off certain channels when parenting?

Example:
I want to parent a ball to a hose. I want to animate to hose stretching inward and outward but i dont want to ball to strech. I would like a way to parent the ball to just the Position and Rotation channel but not the strech channel.

Thanks,

There are a few of tools that will do this. Under the motion options for the item you want have parented - the ball - you can add a modifier.

Follower without a frame offset is essentially parenting yet gives you controll over all channels.

Then also look though the others and experiment.

As an example there are the Simple Orient/Point Constraint/Affector tools to look at.
