So here's a simple question, where is the majority of the money in 3d Graphics?

Logos? Real Estate work? X Y Z ?

naaah wrong approach if your just doing it for the money. Choose a direction that actually interests you and you'll probably have more chance of turning a buck.

I would think selling elitest priced software like XSI and Houdini. :)

Simple rule of economics: Supply and demand.

Whether you do graphic design, photography, calligraphy, video/film production, 3d, or you trim hedges to look like cute little animals, if you have the talent to be one of a kind, then you can charge big bucks. If you're only as good as a million others trying to get the same job, the price goes down.

But if money is a factor in picking a career, then definitely get into real estate development.

I didn't mean for it to sound like money is the only reason I'm doing this. I really enjoy all aspects of digital content creation. I work as an editor, I've done a lot of print work as well. However I'd like to know which area of 3d design is the most profitable, and most work?

You've got to pay the bills somehow. :)

Well considering that Houdini in the most advanced version is FREE for non-commerical use with no water mark or point limit, and that XSI can now be had for under $500 makes your statement look a bit dated.

Value is really dependent on what you need to do when it comes to 3D apps.
99% of what's going for LW right now has more to do with the price of render nodes than anything else...
