Hi all,

At work i use unigraphics and find my spaceball 5000 a HUGE benefit. Is anyone hear using one with lightwave and is there any real benefit to using one with this software?

I, myself, have wondered whether it would be worth it to get one of these...

But, it seems that Lightwave is not officially supported; though, curiously Cinema 4D and Maya are...

Hiya noyce,

I used UG for 6 years way back when. Whenever I worked without a spaceball (a 2000 in my case) it was pretty obvious how much I depended on it.

There is a plug-in to let a spaceball 2000 work with Layout, I'm not sure if it would work for the 5000, but you could give it a try.

Modeler doesn't have the same hooks into the api that Layout does, so to the best of my knowledge it's not currently possible to write a plug-in to work with it. I'm guessing this is why Lightwave is not officially supported, but I could be wrong.

Cheers,

K

Many thanks for the replies. I've given it a go and to be honest i wouldn't really recommend it to anyone.

I agree with you that it feels like youve lost an arm when using unigraphics without one, but i wouldn't personally say that there is much of a benefit with lightwave.

Many thanks though : )
