View Full Version : Exporting objects to other programs,how?

What is these days the best way to export LW objects with texturemaps to Maya,XSI,max and cinema 3D?

Any quick and easy converter out there that keeps everything intact,ideally mantaining the texturemap sizes and positions (mainly bumchannel and diffusion channel).

Have you tried the FBX format?
Used to be from Kaydara, now taken over by Alias. Still free... mostly...

Ive tried most 3d converters and they're all quite lame, also the very expensive Polytrans...

I've found the fbx converters like to move things around (like images) , which annoys me.

I tend to use deep exploration, which doesn't do too bad a job between maya and LW. It has had problems (e.g. for a while it couldn't load 2 point polys), but on the whole it works. It can keep references to textures, or convert them to new formats during the object conversion which is quite good.
