View Full Version : Z axis positive/negative directions flipped

I'm curious about something. Why is it in Lightwave that the Back view seems to function as the Front view? When I set the Back view panel to be Front and watch where things happen in the Top view, they function as if they were being placed from the back. It seems that Lightwave's positive Z axis is different from other 3D application's positive Z axis which might have something to do with this.

Is there any way to make LW behave more like other 3D apps in this regard?

I don't think there is, but look at it this way - Modeler's view looks down the Z just like a default camera. If you build a car, it should point down the Z since that is 'forward'. Everything is consistently pointing down the Z, which means that in Modeler you'll be looking at the 'Back' of the car.

This is not neccessarily better than other apps, flipping the Modeler view could certainly make it easier, but looking at it this way makes it easier to understand and get used to how LW does it - hope that helps!
