View Full Version : Advice on creating diminishing glow

I want to make a surface for rivets such that the tip of the rivet glows, and that glow diminishes about halfway up the shaft.

My plan is to create a small object in front of the bolt, give that object an invisible surface, then use a gradient with Distance to Object to control how that glow gradient falls off...or maybe use a null in front of the rivet and use Distance to the null?

Is this a sound method, or is there something better/easier out there?

You might also be able to use luminosity (with a radiosity render) set on a gradient.
