Just like the topic says. Are there any experimental features in 8.3? Can anyone tell me?

Probably the same experimental features that have always been there (ctrl + shift + F1) :)

The experimental features become active ;)

I'm not sure really, they are never documented. I remember in older versions there was an option to change the accuracy of the IK and I think once it changed how things were rendered (not in a good way), but I haven't found anything in LW8, or heard of any. It may just be left over from past versions and it doesn't actually activate anything.

If you enable the experimental features you can hit ctrl + alt + F3 to change the IK accuracy. There used to be some other stuff it did but hard to remember anymore :)

its a left over from the old days - i mean some of those experimental features eventually became part of the program proper.
i think on the amiga version 5 you could get non-modal panels, and on another verson i think it gave you the ability to load an audio file in the scene editor.
in 5.6 you could change the particle line size, which is also now built into the object properties panel.

in direct answer to the original question, no i havent noticed anything new..

problems. As far as getting feedback on the "hidden" features, yes, we
always want to hear from our users on what they like and dislike about
existing and/or new features, but they are "hidden" because they are still
in testing and our legion of LightWave 3D beta testers are putting them
through their paces, giving us feedback.

Experimental Features in 7 04-Sep-01

Here's a tip useful to some people. In Lightwave 7.0, you can enable experimental features and get a head's up on your rotational values. Simply press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F1 (or equivalent on the Mac I assume) to enable them. Now, I'm not sure what else this starts up but when you rotate an object from there on in, you get to see the rotational values displayed! Any more out there? Email me.

Mouse Wheel Zoom
About five e-mails straight away on this one. With the experimental features enabled, you can use the wheel on your mouse button to zoom in and out in the viewport! This tablet user didn't have a chance :-).

OpenGL Ghosting
Some lucky OpenGL accel owners can see a ghost of the object when rotating, scaling or moving it (I'm not a lucky one).

Change IK Settings
Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+F3 to change IK settings.
