Since updating to WindowsMedia Player 9 I have not been able to encode streaming videos intended for older systems. No matter what I always get the audio codec for 9. I would like to stream in Player 7 for both audio and video. This happens whether I utilize the toaster or any other software. Does anyone know the workaround?

Pretty much all the new 9 series WM codecs (audio/video/screen) will play fine on WMP 7 and higher. It should automatically download the codec to the player if necessary.

However, you'll find more limited support for 6.4 players (Windows 95 and NT 4.0). (WM9 CBR Audio is the only one that works under this player version.)

Here's the new WM9 codec compatibility matrix: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/codecs/compatibility.aspx

Hope this helps -
