Added a script called: Scale to Absolute Size (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CMAN_LScripts/files/)

maybe this already exists and I didn't know about it - but if not, some may find it useful.

These instructions are in the .ls file.

// Pick two points.
// The LScript will present the original distance between the two points.
// The value you enter will scale everything in the layer
// until the two points reach your entered distance.
// Center of scale can be origin, 1st point picked, or center of the two points picked.

So basically, let's say you have a model that is 5.5 meters tall, but you need it, and everything in it's layer to scale up so the model is 6.5 meters tall - this script will do that.

If there's another easier way to do this, please educate me. :)

The link is working.
That is the yahoo group where I keep all my scripts.

Unfortunately I can't get the file to attach to this forum.
I'll try later.

I think it will be quite useful for people (like me) who like exact measurements/scale for their objects.

Thanks!

Great!

I received an obj file of a new building with human figures to provide scale. Thing is, the figures were 66+ some meters tall!
Normally this wouldn't matter too much, but as it was going to be lit and rendered by me (possibly with GI), I wanted it to more closely match "normal proportions".

Hence the birth of this script.
I couldn't figure out any other way of doing it...

Sounds like a script I wrote some time ago using bits of your code Carl!

This is too cool.

I have to walk DWG files thourgh Illustrator to bring them into LW as an EPS. Seems the scale is never really what it should be so this will make the process just that much quicker. :)

Exactly why I wrote this script! It's a simple process but one that benefits some automation!

small update.

On another board a user asked about bounding box.
I told them about your script Matt, then decided to just quickly add it anyway.
