hi i was wondering if anyone knows how to zoom in on the time line at the bottom of the screen in layout? I know i can do it in the graph editor but i want to know if i can do it with the major time line at the bottom of the screen.

none that I know of.
Just Alt+LMB slides it.
Also you can set it for partial frames. (edit>general options>fractional frames)

You can enter the frame # that is before the timeline and the number that is after the timeline then the timeline will only show between those two frame #'s

To the left and right hand side of the time line. It starts off as 1 and 60 as default.

woops..forgot bout that :)
I change them all the time but they don't leave little lines for visual aid except if you put partial frames on and move the slider to see the actual number.

You might want to skim through the manual as there are some helpful stuff in there that will answer the majority of questions on the Time Line and the other aspects of Lightwave.
