I am trying to do the blood cell tut. I get this half cell and can't get it right. User error most likely.

Lightwave 8.2.1, XP pro, DP 2.6 xeon, 2GB ram.

My ploys are flipped correctly, all normals are facing out. Why does it look like it has a cut down the middle?

Are you sure you don't have something like "Invert Layer" checked somewhere?

I've seen similar artifacts when mapping a "Veins" texture map as a bump map, but the texture is way too big for the object. Without further info on the model and texture settings, hard to say what's going on.

Right off the bat, your bump scaling is off. The tutorial has the texture scale for the xyz axes set to 1mm each. You have it set to 1 m, therefore the texture you're using is 1000 times larger on each axis than the one the tutorial uses, making it 1000^3 times larger overall (if my math is correct :p ).

Now, it obviously still needs tweaking, but at least you know now why you have that nasty slash running through the middle. :)
