I am having a problem with mirroring a object becuase of 1 main reason. I have half of a held of a sword but the problem is that the side i want to mirror is not straight, is there any way of selecting the side and making it flat so i can mirror the object cleanly?

on a side note what is the best way of taking to objects and making them one solid object?

For mirroring you normally have a straight edge along the 0 Y Axis. To acheive that select all the points that form part of the edge and explicitly set their X value to be 0. In LW8 that would be Detail->Set Value. Then you can mirror.

..not sure what you mean by a solid object, but perhaps Boolean->Add is what you want.

Post a screen grab of your model. Let's have a look at what you are trying to do.

You can select points on the one side and use the set value command (v key). Then you can mirror command to mirror the object along the same axis used by the set value command at merge the points at the same time.
