Something's afoot over on CGTalk (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=232952). Care to shed some light on the subject if you stop by for a visit in this thread?

Hmm...

All I did was ask a simple question...

Glad to to see Satlinism is alive and well in CG Talk.

I don't look at CGTalk that much but SplineGod's tutorials helped me alot when i first started and if they think he was advertising his courseware too much then they should have given him a warning first, it must be a personal thing if they didn't

Yeah, forum drama, that's exactly what the world needs! :p

Thank god (or something) there is none of that here, at least not that I have noticed.

I think CGTalk is in trouble. I got an e-mail from them "pimping" their books. It said their costs have exploded the past couple years 'cause membership is through the roof. Who knows who they will turn to next for help? Someone with a lot more money than myself for sure...

I think this is really sad. I've had a few fairly intense discussions with Larry in the past, and he does argue his case strongly, but always in a civil and constructive way. And no one can deny the contribution he makes to the community.

So yes, I agree, it is CGTalks loss, and I think it diminishes them too. Untill now I had always considered CGTalk to be free of the 'politics' that some other forums seem to display, and it's a bit disapointing to see this now.

I hope that this can be resolved and we will soon see Larry back at CG Talk.

For those that don't know what the original poster is talking about, look here: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=232952

Pretty weak end to the thread too by Leonard.

Here and Spinquad are the places to hang out for LW'ers if you ask me. Super friendly and very talented help.

Larry does post about his training a lot, but this training helps the user a lot, especially his free stuff, as well as the quick examples he puts up on his website. So maybe some people see this as spam, but I always see it as help, and I'm sure the person that asked for help doesn't see it as spam either.

The proper venue for discussing issues of CGTalk's moderation is with CGTalk's moderators, privately or publicly as they prefer. This is not an appropriate topic for this forum, and will be closed.
