View Full Version : LWSN from the command line.

In older versions of LW we were able to run LWSN from the shell, but in 8.2 for mac we see an error:

mullet:/Applications/LightWave [8]/programs dylan$ ./lwsn
-bash: ./lwsn: cannot execute binary file

The file is an exe though:

mullet:/Applications/LightWave [8]/programs dylan$ file ./lwsn
./lwsn: header for PowerPC PEF executable

although other command line binarys have a different file type:

mullet:/Applications/LightWave [8]/programs dylan$ file /bin/date
/bin/date: Mach-O executable ppc

I don't want to use screamernet as the render farm already uses another controller.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Currently the only way that I can run lwsn it for it to fire up the GUI dialoge box, and thats no good if you need to fire it from the shell.

Dumb reply, but I'm not having that problem when launching LWSN. I will also say I can't pre-populate the command string, but that hasn't worked since 6, from what I remember. Can you post a copy of the command string you are trying?

Yeah. I am just trying to run lwsn from the shell.

localhost:/Applications/LightWave [8]/programs root# /Applications/LightWave\ \[8\]/programs/lwsn
su: /Applications/LightWave [8]/programs/lwsn: cannot execute binary file

I'm guessing this is because this program can not be fired up from the command line as it's not mach-O which is going to be a real pain for me.

use the "open" command for example:
open [path]

instead of just the [path]

heres the text of me doing it:

tdg5Dual:~ ted$ /Applications/LightWave\ \[8\]/programs/LWSN
-bash: /Applications/LightWave [8]/programs/LWSN: cannot execute binary file
tdg5Dual:~ ted$ open /Applications/LightWave\ \[8\]/programs/LWSN

it launched just fine when I used the open command, which is what you SHOULD already be using anyway.
