Hi,

I am new to VT4 and just bought the Tricaster at NAB. I am wondering what would be the advantage to using the SX8 if you only have 3 video sources max?

You've got 3 external video inputs (cameras), but you have a number of additional computer generated signals like disk based video playback, background generator, black, etc. I'm sure I missed a few. Plus it offers DSK control. I use an rs-8 on my VT3 and seldom to never have more than three external cams connected to it, though they are component connections.

Thanks JREBLE for your quick reply. I should have been more clear. My question was in responce to the above answer that the sx8 could be used with the tricaster. I wanted to know how and why.

Thanks

Phil

Oh my bad. You are confused. The RS-8 can be used with Tricaster as well as the VT for hardware control of the switching. The SX-8 is the break out box for the VT3-4 and cannot be used with the Tricaster, only a VT system.
