apologies if i'm missing something obvious in my workflow, but this seems like a natural fit. as does multi-threading for the baking shader/plugin.

the concept behind baking of being able to speed up render times is perfect, but its implementation is kind of thwarted by being unable to have your network work on the calculations (assuming again i'm not missing anything, but i don't think i am :o ).

also i sure hope the shader is receiving some attention from the new team, as it pretty much defines sloooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww :D

It would be nice to have a whole network section added to lightwave so you could give baking your floor to one computer and the couch to another and a lamp to another. And is it just me, or does surface baker seem to hang for a long time while it's baking? It seems like its stalled but it isn't, at least for me, it would be nice if it was built into the lightwave render so you could see it's progress or somthing.
