View Full Version : Has anybody noticed? 8.0 -> 8.2 rendering

Not only does 8.2 render 10 to 30% faster than 8.0 ( way to go NT ), it also gives you a proper alpha when you raytrace transparency / reflection / refraction! They finally fixed that bug.

Unfortunately it seems to have added a few, but it's still good to have these.

I forgot to bring my benchmarks today, so tomorrow -

Gonna have to disagree with you on the alpha thing, as I pointed out in this thread:

Alpha Problem in 8.2 (http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?t=35410)

Sure, it gave me a proper alpha for a refractive object, but the alpha cut all the way through an opaque surface positioned behind the refractive object.

Well it's much better in any case...

My render times for Tracer-Radiosity in 8.0 were 314 seconds, and in 8.2 I get 298. My other tests showed a much bigger increase, like 2 minutes compared to 2 1/2.
