I really would like to see my shadows in my open GL preview - is this posible?

I believe you can only display the features which LW supports on the Display Properties panel, even if your card supports shadows or other features.

Nope, since Lightwave doesn't yet support advanced OpenGL pixel shaders and even then your hardware rendered shadows would look different from your software rendered ones.

You could of course bake the shadows to texture channels, but that probably isn't what you are looking for...

Proper shadow casting has always been a problem with real-time 3D. I think it's possible to do with some kind of pixel (or was that vertex?) shaders, or GLSL, but I guess it's not perfect. Doom 3 uses shadow mapping (contour calculations on the CPU).
