okay, i finally need to start using dof in my stuff.

can anyone help me to a simple, yet effective tutorial? i've wasted a few hours trying to get it to work by the manual and experimentation.

no matter what settings i use, everything is in focus.

do i need to do something different to get nice results from fprime on dof?

thanks.

As far as I can make out, FPrime only renders motion blur and DOF in the final render, not the preview window. If you want to see immediate DOF, try a F9 render. You'll also need to apply anti-aliasing for the camera.

It really depends on the camera settings and the size/distance of the objects.

Start by reducing your F-stop, as low as you need; below .5 if neccessary.

There are different kinds of dof, and the best results always require either that you buy Xdof or do it in compositing.
