Is there a way to make an object emit light?

Crank the luminosity to 100% and render with Radiosity will make the object cast light. If you don't need it to actually emit light, crank the luminosity and add glow to it - it'll look like it's lit, but won't splash light on surrounding objects.

If your interested in lets say a object that's casting light(monitor for example) you could use luminosity to let it look like it's casting light and use a area light in front of it to cast the light. Saves time compared to using radiosity. :)

Well, yeah... but turning the luminosity up to 15 bazillion percent and using radiosity is waaay more fun :)

It's getting late now. you can slap me...
