OK... so if I were building a new box in anticipation of VT[3]... what would everyone suggest as far as the inside components??
I was thinking about the SuperMicro MOBO with the e7505 chipset & dual SCSI 320 onboard.
3 Cheetah 10k drives stripped as a RAID 0.
80 gig ATA or 74 gig SCSI 320 as the system drive... suggestions???
1 gig of RAM
What would people suggest as far the "perfect" video card??
I would need 1920x1200 (I'll be feeding an Apple 23" Cinema Display)
Would you suggest staying with the nVidia chipset, or ATI??
Just a wonderin'...
Thanks,
Patrick

Blaine (& Chris) at Video Hardware http://www.videohardware.com is building me a new powerhouse. He has tested this system extensively and it's near bulletproof (as was my single P-IV box he built).
Drop by and read about the 7505.

Jim...
Sounds like a perfect build for VT!
Which video card are you using... and single monitor or dual??

Not absolutely sure, but I think it is a dual Nvidea card, 64mb????
Blaine?
I would have to recommend a turnkey system, just for the fact that my system has been nearly bulletproof, as I've said. Sure, it costs a bit more, but you're getting the experience of the dealer having built many systems and knowing what works and what doesn't. Saves a LOT of hassle and frustration.
With that kind of a system, I'd recommend 4 SCSI drives. You don't want to choke down an otherwise kick a** system.
Let us know how it goes.
I'm feeling kinda small:( with my high end system I bought just 6 months ago!
Watz ya gunna do? It's our world, isn't it?

Just watching TechTV... AMD just announce their new 64 bit Opteron chip.
Intel is due to announce the new 3.2 gig hz chip within a month... and Intel has dropped pricing today as much as 30% to clear the shelves of higher end chips in anticipation of this release!!
Also, the new Intel 875P chipset (800 mhz frontside bus w/ 400 mhz ram) looks interesting!! Great specs... waiting for a dual processor MOBO to see the how it performs!
This is an interesting time!!!
