is there any way that i can open a uv map in photoshop and edit it there!

what i want is in stead of making an image and then putting it on it in lightwave i would like to paint the the colors and details direktly to the model or mesh?
if that is possible, how would i best do it?

and what about vertex paint? can you make texture's with that? any help is most welcome

Hi abysmalgail,

Once you have created your UV maps in modeler, you can then export them out as EPS files for painting in Photoshop. You can't directly paint onto a model in 3D in lightwave at present, but there is a standalone application that does this called Bodypaint that connects to Lightwave.

It is not possible to directly apply paint [pixels] to an object in LW, nor can you do it in Photoshop. However, it is possible to save a UV map image from LW Modeler and use it as a basis for painting in Photoshop. You can use the plugin UV imaginator to do this.

If you want to paint in real-time on a LW object you will have to get a program that does this. Deep Paint 3D can do it, and there is a way to paint on UV's in Mirage as well.
