View Full Version : 7.5b: Crashing when unloading large models?

Has anyone else seen this? Sometimes when closing either Modeler or Layout after working on really data-heavy models, the program will crash rather than close gracefully.

Thankfully, I haven't lost any data yet, but it makes me nervous when I'm working on a scene with 80+ MBs of content...

Yeah I've noticed it lately.
it seems to be a random thing as there are times when closing the sme poly heavy model closes the two apps fine.

Yes, this seems like a real bug with my 7.5b, and fairly frequent.

BTW, this is another great reason to use Autosave in the Hub. I have mine set for every 1 minute. This should protect you from any serious data loss (at least with Modeler).

Oh yea, and the model/scene doesn't have to be big.

Try to see how many times you can load and clear scene before you crash Lightwave.

Also if you have bones in your scene it gets worse. I think I am going back to 7.5 (what a pain though).

Okay, it just happened when I clicked RandPoints on an otherwise empty new object. There's clearly a memory allocation problem in here somewhere.

I went back to 7.5 for now. I have never had as many crashes as I have under 7.5b.

If you do get crashes in modeler, try changing your video driver. If you have crashes in Layout but not modeler, then it's something else.

Keep crashing

Frequent lightwave.exe Application error
The instruction at 0x61024840 referenced memory at 0x000002c2. The memory could not be read. As anybody seen this?

If you're still using ver b there's been upgrades since then that are downloadable from their site.
