Hi,

I have been playing around with Normal mapping to model low poly game charcters with the detail of the High Poly model generated as a Normal Map.

Here is my progress so far:

Everything seems to work well apart from this:

Strange Artifacts in the Map.

If anyone has any idea as to how I can stop the Artifacts apart from in Photoshop, Please help.

Do you have some unwelded point in your object or UV map?...maybe that could be it?

Maybe due to the low mesh needs the correct smoothing set in it surface properties before you bake? or a quick smooth in modeller?
