I tried to start the VT today only to be greeted by "newtekrtme.dll missing"
Dont know who or what cuased this how do I fix it the right way???

I found the steps to do an install

are these steps still good for4909??

I just dont want to screw the system up any worse than it already is!!

If you insert the install disc, is one of the options "repair current installation"? That might help and should* be less intrusive than a full install. (*should = "I don't know if it really is ;) ).

Also if you're using XP, there's a feature that lets you roll back the system to a snapshot of a previous working date.

However, in my experience if a file or reference to it has gone missing, that usually means it's time for a full windows + toaster reinstall. If one thing is wrong, there are probably other things wrong or about to go wrong. I suggest buying a new hard drive (cheap these days) and installing a fresh copy there. That way you have the old drive in case things go wrong or you need to go back.

Don't neglect the possibility of hardware problems causing this as well (system drive going bad, marginal power supply, slow CPU fan, etc.)

tried the repair option. Didn't work. Trying a re-install now?!?!?
