View Full Version : Baked textures with alpha?

I'm attempting to bake textures (color only) to a model and save an image with an alpha channel so that I can add further detail in Photoshop. Baking is straight-forward enough, but when I choose a 32-bit image format my alpha is a wireframe of my UV's. What gives? The desired effect would be a file where all polygons of the UV map are colored and everything outside of that is transparent. What am I missing? I know I can just magic wand the background of the image, but I want something more precise.

Here's an example of what I'm getting...

I guess the point is to give you a guide/template if you want to re-touch the baked image. If not just discard the channel, or save in a 24bit format in the first place.

Mike - it's not a bug, it's a feature. ;)

Well, I do want the alpha, but I want it to look more like this. Again, I can create this alpha myself by using selection tools in PS, but is it possible for LW to save the image like this?

Not afaik, I guess you'd have to do a second bake for that...

It would be a nice feature request though :)

Thanks Mike, In the meantime I guess I'll continue to create the alpha by hand.
