I am soon going to upgrade (yet again) to a new LW compy (normally the VT get first crack), but I wanna be ready when LW64 is released..
I was looking over video cards and saw this stuff about SLI.
Supposedly I will be able to hook 2 video cards in paralelle (series?)forgot now, and can deliver twice the power and speed as 1 card would.

So if the specs for a single card are
Graphics Core 256-bit
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Bandwidth 35.2 GB/sec.
Fill Rate 6.4 billion texels/sec.
Vertices per Second 600 Million
Memory Data Rate 1100 MHz
Pixels per Clock (peak) 16
Textures per Pixel* 16
RAMDACs 400 MHz

Then supposedly I can double all those numbers?

Would it be worth it when used with LW?
Or another way...will I finally have realtime workflow in all aspects with any project I build in LW???
I know all you dealers get to play with this stuff first so I figured I'd ask.

SLI will be of VERY limited usefulness with LW, in my opinion. LightWave seems to rely more on CPU speed for manipulating geometry, not the GPU.

Those specs you show... You would never see that kind of performance in LightWave with one card OR two.

You definitely won't double those numbers.

Hmm
The companies sure make the sales pitch sound good tho :D

I was thinking more of screen speed (no redraw wait) with millions of polys
