At least in LW5.6 an alpha channel worked for its relative image-map.

Now the texturing operations are loose and there is no way to put parentheses, group them, relate them in multiple surfaces, restrict them, isolate part of a calculation as a variable-parameter used by other LW-scene parameter etc

Weakness : In the color texture, I use a Black&White Gradient as Alpha Channel for the preceeding texture. Normally it should work,
however the Black&White are blended in the texturing calculation :(

Its a pitty, an ambitious 3d-app as LW with so many "fans" to have in LW7.5 such simplistic texturing system.

I wish LW[8] will take care of this.

(I mentioned this weakness in the old Discussion Forums, but every time I face this, I cannot resist refreshing my request)
