G2, from Worley Labs, will change the way you work. (Layout)
Eki's Plug pak combines a number of useful utilities into a small priced package (Layout)
Sasquatch (full-version) from Worley Labs is great if you do hair, grass, fur, or feathers (Layout)
If you use Sasquatch, you want CurveToPolychain to make 2-point polygons from curves, for long hair guides. (Modeler)
Richard Brak has a collection of great plug-ins, including his new Rounder (Modeler)
If you do character work, ACS[4] from Lukasz Pazur is a great time-saver (Layout)

One of the great benefits of IFW shaders (www.shaders.org) is that they come with presets and plug-ins.

Although I don't have them (or currently have a client asking for their uses) I've looked at Impact and Nature FX from Dynamic Realities for a while.

That's far from comprehensive, there are literally hundreds of 3rd party plug-ins to choose from that can improve your workflow or just do cool things. Check out the database at http://www.flay.com/getentry.cfm

here's something that was posted a little while back. Richard Brak's rounder plug-in has come out since, and I'd agree with Mlinde, it's a great tool. here's the link:

are you new to Lightwave? on a Mac? good luck with your persuits.

I was looking at G2...It looks like a great package--but it seems like a high price. Is it worth it? I did notice talk about Lightwave 8 being around the corner (rumor?). Buy now or later?

I did buy Eki's Plug pak... very-very nice!

Thanks again!!!

G2 will change the way you work. One of the most obvious uses is that it provides you with an interactive update (like VIPER) when setting up lighting in a scene. That alone can save HOURS of F9 renders, getting the lights set up correctly quickly. If you are a hobbyist or just learning Lightwave, G2 is an expensive addition you don't necessarily need, but if you work in a professional environment, where time is money, G2 gives you a lot of time for a little money.

Poz Extender and Quicksaw are 'Must Have' scripts but look like they've been discontinued following LW7.5 David has released a new plugin version of Extender but it's PC only. It would be great if someone could port it to the Mac platform.
