View Full Version : Subpatch models causing Hypervoxels to crash LW?

Hm. I got this weird problem, if I have a subpatch model in my scene and I select the Hypervoxel plugin (regardless of whether there is an emitter or not) Lightwave will crash. It does not crash if there are no subpatch models in the scene.

If I add the Hypervoxel plugin BEFORE I add a subpatch model, it seems to be more stable.

Specs in brief:
AMD 1.2gHz
640 mb RAM
Quadro4 980 XGL
Windows 2000 Pro SP3
Lightwave 8

Anyone ever heard of this problem?

Are you using any of the visual texture plugins? If so, you need to update them and your HVs will work fine either way.

Bingo, that was it. I had the Visual Texture demo, which consistently crashed out on me in any case, I hadn't realised that plugins could affect LW performance without being invoked :)

Thanks very much, I will watch out for that in future.

If they're installed and active (ie, you've added them) they can affect your program. You're effectively adding code when you add a plugin, and if that code is buggy, then you can affect the whole program.
