"8.2 Update

The LightWave team has been working fast and furiously over the last several weeks on 8.2. Our goal was to get it polished up and ready to deliver to you in time for the holidays. We are in the final stages of testing, but our commitment is to make sure that every release is as rock solid as you expect so, we're going to hold off distribution until the first part of January. We know you would like it earlier, but our first priority is quality and stability. We're very sorry but you're going to have spend the holidays with your family enjoying food and fun. (For those cynics out there... no, we did not take bribes from any wives or girlfriends.) Best wishes to everyone this joyous season... we'll see you in 2005.

You have a licensed copy of LightWave, it will definitely be available to you. That's just the way Newtek works.

It will probably be made available to VT4 LW8 license holders. However, it will be a separate download as the standard upgrade installer WILL NOT work with the VT4 version. This was the case with the LW7.5d upgrade. To be honest, I still haven't checked to see if the LW7.5d upgrade has been made available as a VT3/VT4 compatible download. I have a VT3 and some people have upgraded to VT4 but stayed at LW7.5 to save costs. So you need to wait for an official announcement from Newtek regarding a VT4 LW8.2 upgrade. Definitely DO NOT try installing the standard LW8.2 upgrade when it is posted.

That's not necessarily true. I own a VT 2 with LW 7.5 (Animator's edition) and can't upgrade to 7.5b or 7.5c. LW upgrade just don't recognise the toaster card as a dongle like the original LW version and starts in demo mode.

And have you asked Newtek to remedy this??? I would have been on the phone in about 5 minutes.

That's good for you. I'm just pointing a fact that isn't even a complaint.

I've sent an e-mail to customer service about this.

is this new upgrade available for VT[4] LW owners?

Because LightWave uses the VT[4] card as its dongle, you can not download and install the update posted on the NewTek LightWave downloads page.

You will be pleased to note that NewTek has just shipped VT[4] Service Pack 1, which does include LightWave 8.0.1 for your general enjoyment of the pending new year!!

Paul, I assume you guys are already making plans on how to make the 8.2 update available to the Toaster users? ;)
