View Full Version : LightWave 8 'Neutral' Colour Scheme

Finally have LightWave 8! :) Awesome! :)

First thing I did though was to change the interface colours! Thought I'd share my colour setup.

I read a lot of posts from users saying they couldn't change them, so I did some tests to see what was different.

Looks like most of the settings work the same but the one that doesn't work anymore is 'BackgroundColor'. This setting has no effect so we're stuck with the colour '143 143 143'.

For me there is too much contrast with the default colours so I created a scheme that is very neutral (some might say dull, but each to their own!)

I used the background colour as a tint for the other colours, a blueish scheme seemed to suit it.

I didn't like the white 'highlight' colour either - but unfortunately you can't change that independently, it's actually a lighter version of whatever colour you use for 'DragButtonColor'.

Anyway, here are my settings:

ToolButtonColor 135 138 145
StateButtonColor 135 138 145
ActionButtonColor 135 138 145
DialogButtonColor 135 138 145
DragButtonColor 135 138 145
BackgroundColor 135 138 145
InfoAreaColor 116 115 112
InfoAreaTextColor 29 30 36

Drop them into 'LWHUB8.CFG'.

I have both LW 8 and 7.5 installed... after some hours I found the new UI very good... when I need to load the old beloved 7.5 my first impression is: "Ouch... I cannot see it anymore!"! ;)

Well i have the opposite experience, the new Ui has way to much contrast to work with, especially the GraphEditor hurts the eye. I changed my colors to a neutral grey too, but much lighter. Hopefully we can change the backround in Layout like in Modeller with the next version.

The only setting I would like to be able to change is the colors for the preset shelf text and the color behind the text. Of the given list config color sample, which ones would be needed to change it? As it stands, the text is way too dark against the text background to read easily.

Thanks for the Christmas gift Matt! It is a bit dull though. ;)
