Hi, Can someone give me a hint on how to rig a long tail? I'm trying to get a snake like movement. I'm assuming this setup requires the use of null objects between the bones and then tying off the IK. I'm using LW 7.5.

Thanks

Do you need to position the tip somewhere specifically in space? If not then the fastest way to get a snaking movement is to grab all the bones and FK animate a single left-right swish. Then in the graph editor offset each bone`s motion curves from the preceding bone. Set pre and post to loop and you`re done.

Splinegod has a tutorial on his site for a long neck rig where he uses selection sets to manipulate the bones. IK isn`t always the way :)

Hope some of this helps,

Thanks Rory :)
I would suggest checking out the tentacle rig on my site. It shows how to do this using selection sets :)
