Since upgrading to my G5 I haven't been able to view my models in Wireframe and Colourwireframe modes. All I seem to get 80% of the time is these blank white Viewports.

Anybody else having this problem? Apologies if this has been talked about before.

OS 10.3.6, 2x2 G5, 1.5G Ram, GeForce FX 5200 64mb, 20inch LCD Apple Cinema Display

It just ironic that I never had this problem on my G4 400 Mhz with 16Mg card, running a 21 inch CTR.

It seems to be a bug with the NVIDIA drivers....I get this too with the 6800. It happens when I select polygons in a aviewport (here the right view) and the other two views turn yellow. It's not a big deal on my system as it only seems to happen with a few objects, and the yellow goes away if I nudge the viewport in any direction.

Try unchecking "Simple Wireframe Edges" in the Display Options - Interface tab.

I had the same problem, and this seems to fix it with both the 5200 and the 6800 cards.

Thankyou Cheetah

that's fixed it for me, I noticed that you need simplewireframe points checked though or it doesn't work. Wierd!!!

and thanks again

Wow, thanks! I was trying to UV map my model and I couldn't see the map at all. This fixed it though, you guys rock :)

i got the problem with the update to 8.2
usually just refreshing the opengl display works to fix it.

Riki, Iíve had a similar problem in Layout with "pink" viewports and itís been driving me mad. I have fixed it by un-clicking 'show motion paths' in the Display options.

I know this isnít exactly the same as your problem but itís definitely related. I think it might have something to do with OpenGL because itís happened to me a couple of machines with different video cards, one a 64mb and the other a 6800 256mb (although they are both nVidia) but I canít be sure.

I have just posted a thread on this myself:

Hope this might help.

Icegiant. ;)

I have pretty much the same g5 setup, but with an ati card, and have not had any of these issues, so it is probably safe to say that it is definitely something with the nvidia drivers....

Thanks meanlebh.

I have an older ati card (rage pro 128 or something). as I said before, I got these symptoms with 8.2 but not with 8.0.1 or 8.0. my guess is that its another LW glitch, and not a Graphics card glitch. occams razor an all that. IE: lightwave has dozens and dozens of gotchas that don't affect everybody.
