View Full Version : Exporting IK to Game

Hello, Has anyone successfully exported an IK animation to a game engine before? Deep exploration doesn't seem to do that for me. There is zero motion in DE when importing an IK animation. If you have, what did you do to get IK to animate in your engine?

yes i have with this plugin
but it does not export the animation information correctly if you use match goal in your ik chain

a work around i found was to use a constraint motion plugin to constraint the bones the saame way match goal would

other then that it worked fine

The DTS exporter for the Torque Game Engine takes IK into account.
And yes, we have successfully exported our character models into the game.
Krabbits are walking around, running and jumping, etc.. :D :cool: :)

The issue with the motion in the Unreal plugin was the order of processing within lightwave. Basically, the Motion plugins were called before the IK stuff was evaluted and I was using a Motion plugin to record the bone movements. So unless you baked the motions in, or something like that, it wouldn't be around when my plugin was called.

That was a v6.0 SDK though - I havn't kept up with the later releases.

Mike have you ever thought about release the source code to this plugin
it is a great tool to have in LW and besides the little problem with lightwave's order of processing it worked perfect

or any thoughts on updating it with the new sdk
