View Full Version : Texture maps vs. geometry

I've got this project for broadcast for an architecture show, and the opener features a 3D house. We want it to look like something an architect might produce to visualize for a client. Any of you CAD guys -- would you do things like siding or roof materials with geometry, or would you use texture maps? My instinct says use geometry whenever possible.

I would use geometry wherever possible. Textures tend to give away the technical, crisp look of things and in contrast to popular believe a higher polygon count does not necessarily mean slower rendering.
