Hi, im just about to start my 1st animation at Uni and im trrying to create a take of scene for a rocket, so i need lots of smoke and a bright burning flame, i need the smoke to shoot out from the bottom and react with the ground so that the smoke looks real, if anybody knows a good was of creating this or even a site which has a tut i would be very grateful,

i have looked at the tut on this site for Jet-exzast, but i need somthin a bit more realastic.

cheers :D

See if either of these may help. Use them as a starting point. They're not finalized on my side either, I really don't like the jet engine one yet, but I'm working on it still. Rocket launch one was one I worked up taking a DVD course on HVs.

Heres a quick test I did. :)
I used 2 emitters, one for the flames and one for the smoke.
I also used gradients based on distance from the rocket to affect things like HV size, luminosity etc.

Thx SplineGod,

ill start studying how u did it,

by the way is the flame just an actual Jpeg image ?

and also did u use wind-effectors in ur smoke effect, is that was the spheres are going round the particles ?

I didnt use any wind effectors. The flame wasnt done with any images.
The flame is an emitter with HV sprites with color, size and luminosity gradients.
The smoke is another emitter with volumetric HVs. It also has gradients to control size.

SplineGod that was great of you to give me that scene file, i learned so much just from studying it, i never new you could use gradients to actually effect the shape of the particles like u did the flame, ive took as much as i could remember from your scene and adapted it to my own, here is an update, its gettin there :D

cheers :p

Glad that is working out. That looks a lot better. I would make it a bit less lumpy. Focus on one thing at a time . :)

Tweaking this sort of stuff can take a bit of time. :)
