****!

Nice lighting. I love the model. The Orange environment blows me away.

I loved you Jack Daniels stuff as well. Great work.

I can't et over the Orange gradiations. Is that HDRI with radiosity or a spherical map?

Any hints? I like it.

thanks Intuition.

The BG is a spherical jpg I downloaded from a website some time ago...

To fake some HDR I mapped it onto a flipped ball, in the color and luminosity channel, and then in the luminosity channel stacked a gradient on top of it. Input set to previous layer and some keys to make the dynamic range go from 0% to 1200%. That enabled me to "bloom" the sun very accurately.

There's another trick in the image: I had the transarency of the ground controlled by a gradient set to distance to object and on top of that a squashed turbulence to fake the heat haze at the horizon.

PS: in photoshop I painted in some subtle fake-DOF, adjusted the levels, added grain... and for these smaller versions sharpened the images.

You ought to make a tutorial for the environment and lighting. That seriously ROCKS!

realy nice work!Great modeling an camera view! But for me it's a bit too intense (in color) enviroment, a bit on the darkish side too:)

yep, that's both part of the point here :p

@Trawler: I'll consder that :D

@Leprechaun: just keep going; you'll get there ;) (and if you don't shy away from paying for tutorials... check out my mc laren tutorial on www.simplyLightWave.com -> that's the exact same model!)

OK, i guess i can see how that could be good also, give's it a bit omnious look, bad-*** car feel :) Maybe i've beed working with pastel kind of colors for too long :)

Excellent modelling and the render looks like it is on the cover of Car & Driver, Motor Trend, etc. I would not have guessed that it was CG except for the the backround.

Your work has me impressed and depressed at the same time.

NICE!

The only critique that I could offer has nothing to do with the model or actual rendering but the focal length of the lens. It seems you have a very dramatic fisheye lens thing going on and it really does your work injustice. Try it with a different lens setting. Although it (lens) heightens the drama of the render it distorts in my view the car way too much.

Beautiful work though.

never intended the latter :D

yeah... I have a faible for low focal lenghts :D

As always, great attention to detail Philip. Watching your tutorials; you make it all look so easy!

Love the environment too, makes a change from the radiosity on white background renders we see all too often.

Regards
Matt
