Does anyone else have this problem:

Everytime during (test)renders when I press the esc-key or click the esc-button on the renderwindow, Lightwave freezes and is not responding to anything anymore.  Never had this problem until now, with this updated version...

Who can help me out here? :(

Yup, this was introduced in 8.0, and apparently Newtek is aware of it.

Same here. P4/XP Pro and LW 8.0.1. Everytime I abort an F9 render LW locks. It doesn't freeze during an F10 render if at least one frame is completed. Otherwise try to bail prior to the completion of one frame and it's seize-o-rama.

LW 7.5d does just the same, which would indeed indicate that they have been fiddling with the render algorithms. Question is, should we interpret this as a good good sign of things to come in next LW releases...?

Hmm... I hit the "abort" button on the render window all the time and it never crashes, 8.0 8.01 XP.

Chuck has mentioned something about them working on the video in a nother thread. He also intimated that coding work was going on "under the hood" ( i.e. not currently visible - but things going in place for future upgrades). As a programmer myself, I don't find that at all surprising. Sometimes it's the things you can't see which can make all the difference. Especially true when walking round a dark room with coffee tables in .....hehehe ;)

On this end, I can only reproduce it when Multithreading is on, although others seem to have had different results.

Ah, maybe that's part of it then, I only have one processor. :)

Ive heard that there might be an issue with SP2 for XP.

It may be just coincidence but I seem to have less crashes using ImageViewer rather than ImageViewer FP - either way, LightWave 8.0 was more stable for me than 8.0.1 :( (I'm still on SP1a BTW)
