In order to neatly fade out the particles, you have the particle age option in the texture menu of dissolve (in HV). However, when you have set the emitter to lifespan 50, with a variation of 30, some particles are that short lived that they 'pop' away, because the gradient for dissolving hasn't got the change to complete itself.

I use this for an explosion, the whole thing looks very neat, but those few particles who 'pop' really ruin the picture.

Any suggestions?

this has always been an issue when using +/- for lifespan....hopefully NT will fix this with a gradient that takes the pfx random life into account! :(

Powel Olas' Fire and Smoke plugin has a work around that may help you...
