Well, I assume they are part of this:

http://www.danablan.com/books.html

However, in the past Dan had posted errata and supplementary files on a special website for us to download, and I have not found that yet for Inside LW8. It's all in one piece here and I for one am not about to download 227 MB via dial-up just to see if there is something in there that is not on the book's DVD.

I've been looking for those too. I even posted a question in regards to that here a while ago. I see... the additional videos are still not there. What a pity.

Im downloading the projects just to see what's inside of that zip, but according to the note below the download link, there are no videos inside.

Then I suggest that you contact Dan directly with a friendly request. As busy as he is, he usually finds time to answer: [email protected]

I believe Dan has a forum of some kind for these kinds of questions. I would go there. :)

re inside lightwav 8 written tutorials:

some of my students are going thru the telephone tutorial..you need to keep an eye out for several typo's in the book...some are quite misleading..always look at the accompanying pictures..

when you first start out there's a typo on centring the basic box...but the written part actually puts it off centre so symetry WILL NOT WORK.

also the number of segments to make is written wrong..look at the pic to see that there are much more segments needed to start off the tutorial.

with all books/written tutorials from whomever [not just dan but everyone] please be aware that errors to type will be in there or certain steps may be either missed when writing or assumptions made of the reader so those steps maybe glossed over...remember that a written tutorial isa guid and not an absolute step by step most times in books or on webpages.

Hi Larry (missed you at this year's Siggraph), nsolo et al:

Indeed. Now that you mention it, Larry, there is such a Inside LW Yahoo Groups forum. At least there used to be, and I see no reason for it to not exist anymore. It was pretty much user-run and Dan-monitored. I just notice that there are some 110 LW-related Yahoo groups alone. Looking...looking...

I thought that it was a members-only group, not so. It is public and has over 3000 members, and this may be the one: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lw3d/

I noticed that Dan posts there. Join it and see what gives. Nothing to lose and a whole lot of LW buddies to gain, some of whom, if not Dan himself, may answer your questions :D

Dan's forum for Inside LW is over at the Lightwave Group.

I see. I remember being in that forum when it was part of the Yahoo LW Groups. In fact, from Dan's original Inside LW 7 errata website, he extended an invitation to join that Yahoo Group and I did, for a time.

Thanks for the update,

Karl

Hey Karl!
Have you had much of a chance to drop by the LA User group meetings?
Weve had some nice demos lately. :)

Also Dan mentioned on one of the forums that he had created a specific place for support on the inside LW8 book.

Hi...

He took them off the site. I don't know why, they were there, but, fortunately, I downloaded them before :)

But I'm only at chapter 11, atm.

Bytehawk  You found it!

nsolo: After all this, it took a guy from Belgium to point you (us) in the right direction. They're right on the front page of 3D Garage, where you said you could not find them.

All's well that ends well ;)

Case closed.

Hey all -

the yahoo groups list was removed last year. The reason it was removed is that I simply did not have the time for it, and the forums are much more appropirate. You can view the new forum over at http://www.lwg3d.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=294

As for bonus tutorials - the book as 1000 pages, plus 5 hours of video tutorials on the DVD. Plus, there are already some tutorials on the 3D Garage site, in the downloads section. You'll find the human rigging videos and bone tools. You'll find more on IK Boost, and another on making rain from particles. These are all free for the taking, and a good example of our 3D Garage courses. There are still two more videos I'll be putting up. This summer has been exceedingly busy with work, the new magazine, book support, 3D Garage, and a few other things. Keep checking the site as we have a huge amount of changes coming.

Also, you can email me rather than posting here. You'll get a direct reply instead of a bunch of odd comments.

Thanks!
