I want to make an environment with a pond in it where the water is pretty calm? I have no idea where to begin on simulating water and it's interaction with the shoreline. I've looked for tutorials on how to do it but can't find a good one. If anyone can direct me to a good tutorial or start me off on how to do this I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I think you could use the free plugin called coffee found below.

That will help you make the water become more opaque as it becomes deeper. Mainly you'll have to be concerned with the shoreline of the pond. This is what will define the shape of the water. Hope this helps!

There's a full chapter in Lightwave Applied, v6.5 and 7 about this. Basically, you use a gradient on the shore and bottom objects, as well as any objects in the water, to simulate the depth attentuation effect.

Or, as oxygen_77 suggested, you could pick up coffee. I've used it before and found that it renders pretty quickly, with good results. HTH.
